How working together works
A clear, structured way of working — designed to reduce risk, avoid surprises, and keep projects moving efficiently.
1. Initial conversation
We start with a short conversation to understand the context, goals, and constraints of your project. This is not a sales call, but a way to determine whether there is a good fit.
If the scope is clear and well-bounded, we usually proceed with a fixed package. If there is uncertainty or exploration involved, we’ll first align on a smaller, scoped engagement.
2. Package or scoped proposal
Based on the conversation, you’ll receive a proposal built around one of the defined packages. Packages focus on outcomes rather than hours, and come with a clear scope and price range.
Where needed, packages can be extended with add-ons or followed by a time-based engagement for further development.
3. Delivery
Work is delivered in close alignment, with regular check-ins where appropriate. The focus is on clarity, robustness, and long-term usability — not just getting something to “work”.
All production infrastructure (code repositories, hosting, databases, third-party services) is owned by the client. I handle setup and configuration unless agreed otherwise.
4. Handover & next steps
After delivery, you receive a clear handover. Depending on the nature of the project, this may include documentation, examples, or deployment instructions.
Many clients choose to continue with a lightweight retainer for maintenance, hosting operations, or ongoing development. This is always optional and clearly scoped.
Principles
- Prices are indicative and confirmed in a tailored proposal
- Packages prioritise outcomes over billable hours
- Production infrastructure is client-owned
- Retainers provide continuity, not open-ended scope
