Course purchase terms & refund policy

Please read these conditions before enrolling. They explain your access period, what your purchase includes, and how withdrawal and refunds work.

Version: 2 November 2026

1. Your purchase

These terms cover paid Ontologic Academy courses offered by Marijn Luijmes / Ontologic, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Questions, complaints and withdrawal notices can be sent to marijn@ontologic.tech. Courses are delivered through Ontologic Academy on Circle.

Before paying, check the course, included materials, total price, applicable taxes, payment schedule and access period shown in the offer and checkout. Your purchase confirmation records your order. A waitlist signup is not a purchase. Software licences, hardware and internet access are not included unless expressly stated.

Any instalment plan or recurring payment must be expressly identified before payment. An access period does not, by itself, authorise an automatic renewal or a new charge. Keep a copy of your offer, checkout details, confirmation and these terms.

2. Twelve months of course access

Thinking in Data includes 12 months of access from enrollment, including course updates released during that period. Access is time-limited; it is not lifetime access. After the period ends, access to paid lessons and their online materials ends unless an extension has been expressly agreed.

Thinking in Data launch buyers also receive Computational Geometry when it is released, with its own 12-month access period starting on release. That entitlement is included in the launch purchase and is not lost merely because the original Thinking in Data access period ends first. Computational Geometry is in development; no release date is promised unless expressly confirmed in your offer.

The other courses and learning tracks shown on the website are a roadmap, not included purchases unless your offer specifically includes them. Free community membership does not itself grant access to paid courses.

3. Learning materials and support

You need a Circle account and a suitable device, internet connection and the software specified for the course. Use the same email address as your purchase, or contact us if access is missing. Downloadable Grasshopper resources are supplied within Circle; sign in or create your community account to access resources available to you.

Courses are self-paced. Where your offer includes group Q&A or community support, those benefits apply for the period stated in that offer. Session arrangements are communicated in Circle. Group support does not include private consultancy, project delivery or a guaranteed individual response time unless specifically agreed. Scheduling changes do not remove support already promised with your purchase.

We may correct and update learning materials without materially reducing what you purchased. If a technical problem prevents access, contact us so we can restore it. Your rights if content or services are not supplied or do not match the agreement remain unaffected.

4. Accounts and permitted use

An individual course purchase is for one learner. Keep your login secure and do not share accounts, redistribute lessons or recordings, resell course files, or publish the course as your own training material. Team access requires an appropriate agreement.

You may use course exercises and supplied Grasshopper templates for your own learning and project work, including commercial project work, subject to any clearly identified third-party licence. Files you legitimately download may continue to be used for those purposes after course access expires. This does not permit redistribution or resale of the original learning materials or templates.

Treat other learners respectfully and do not share their personal information or work without permission. Any restriction of access for misuse must be proportionate and does not remove statutory consumer rights. Educational examples require your own testing and professional judgment before use in a real project; completion does not guarantee a particular professional or commercial outcome.

5. Statutory withdrawal: 14 days

If you buy this course online as a consumer, you have a statutory right under Dutch law, implementing EU consumer rules, to withdraw within 14 days without giving a reason. For digital content and services, the 14-day period is counted from the day after the contract is concluded. The digital-content exception and the rules for services are explained below. Any extension required by law applies.

For recorded lessons and other digital content, the right of withdrawal can end when you start streaming or downloading, but only if you expressly consented beforehand to supply during the withdrawal period, acknowledged that you would lose that right, and received the legally required confirmation. Simply accepting these terms, creating an account or receiving a login does not by itself establish that you waived the right.

Live support and other services are subject to the applicable service rules. If you expressly requested early performance and received the required information, a proportionate amount for services already supplied may be payable on withdrawal. Starting a service does not automatically remove the right to withdraw; the conditions for any exception must be met.

Your rights when content or services are faulty, unavailable or not as described are separate from the cooling-off period and remain available where the law provides them. No blanket no-refunds rule overrides those rights. Any additional voluntary refund guarantee applies only if expressly included in your offer.

6. How to withdraw or request a refund

To withdraw, email marijn@ontologic.tech before the applicable deadline and clearly state that you wish to cancel your course purchase. No special wording or reason is required. Please include your name, purchase email, course name and order date or reference to help us identify the purchase. Sending your notice before the deadline is sufficient; you do not need to wait for our approval.

For a valid withdrawal, we reimburse the amount due without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving your notice, using the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, without a refund fee. Any lawful deduction for services already supplied follows the conditions described above. Access associated with a cancelled purchase ends, including any future-course entitlement included in that purchase.

For other refund requests or complaints, describe the issue by email. We will assess it against your purchase agreement and applicable law. The expiry of the withdrawal period does not remove remedies for a failure to supply or a lack of conformity.

A plain email is sufficient. If you prefer a form, you may use the optional model withdrawal form (Dutch, PDF). Send it to marijn@ontologic.tech; using the form is not required.

7. Your agreement and legal rights

These terms apply to purchases made under this version. A later website edit does not retroactively reduce your existing purchase rights. A specific promise in your accepted offer remains part of your agreement; mandatory consumer protections always take priority.

Dutch law applies, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections of the law of their country of habitual residence where applicable. Nothing here limits liability or remedies that cannot legally be limited, or prevents you from using the courts available to you under mandatory law.

Circle and payment providers have their own platform and payment terms. Those terms do not replace Ontologic's obligations to you as the course seller. Contact us first if you need help accessing a purchase or resolving a complaint.
